Our school’s pedagogy reflects the overarching principles and approach to learning outlined in the Sydney Catholic Schools’ Statement on Authentic Learning. By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.
At St Agnes’ Catholic Primary School Matraville our explicit and meta cognitive teaching approach aims to engage students as active learners. The setting of goals and the use of learning intentions and success criteria across the curriculum provide a strong guide for students. Our staff are professional and passionate educators who strive to provide a supportive and educationally rigorous learning environment.

We offer a curriculum which aims to meet the individual needs of the students in our care. Catering for diverse needs is seen as a priority. Early identification processes allows for a greater number of students to be identified in the early stages of their schooling so that effective strategies and programs are put into place to support the individual learning needs.
In order for our students to learn in a contemporary learning environment, technology is integrated across the curriculum. We have wireless Internet, interactive whiteboards, and students access laptops and iPads.
